Mission Statement

The University of Vienna is committed to research that respects the dignity and integrity of humans, animals and the environment. Ethical issues arising in the implementation of research projects are reviewed by an interdisciplinary group of experts, the Ethics Committee. Scientists at the University of Vienna can consult the Ethics Committee to ensure that their research respects the fundamental values of dignity, liberty and health and that it complies with the legal provisions stipulated by the Statutes of the University of Vienna. The work of the Ethics committee critically contributes to ensure ethical and legal responsibility in research.
